This 7-day devotional series explores questions of gender identity through seven passages of scripture–a gentle introduction for transgender, intersex, and OtherWise-gendered folk as well as those who love us.
The devotional series launched on Our Bible App in October 2019. The book is an expanded offering, including an afterword, terms and definitions, recommended resources, and an appendix of modern-day Psalms.
The text draws from Genesis, Exodus, Matthew, John, Acts, and Galatians, including well-known stories such as Moses at the burning bush, Joseph and the “coat of many colors,” and Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch traveler.
Each chapter is a quick, easy read. Reflection questions are included at the end of each chapter, which can be used individually or in group discussion. Terms and definitions provide modern context and an invitation to explore further.
This reflection guide is appropriate both for those who are beginning to explore their own gender identity, and for those who may be trying to gain understanding of a loved one. It can also be used as an accessible study guide for congregations who want to enhance their understanding of transgender experience.
